is the romney campaign wrong to politicize this while an investigation is ongoing? >> well, i think that when it comes to ambassador stevens' death all of us honor him for his service and his contribution to both our country and to what he did to help further the peace in libya. but what i think is an issue is this question of leadership and then how the events unfolded, what the white house did know, when it did know -- and when it knew it. so i think there's a separation. it's not necessarily about ambassador stevens but, in fact, about foreign policy and leadership and how this administration is handling the crisis that has stemmed from this internally. remember, richard, these were the same folks that came out and condemned anybody who suggested it was anything other than a video and now we're saying, hey, let's not talk about it. >> shawn -- >> i think there's a -- a lot has to do with the handling. >> in all deference though to ambassador stevens' father, how will the governor honor his request? >> again, there is one thing to talk about an individual and brin

i mean, we are, you know, these things ebb and flow and pushing up against another big night for both campaigns. i think that vice president biden will do well. i think that paul ryan will do well also. but i think that the issue here is you have to remember whether for mitt romney's own gaffes or whether the media built up president obama's some figure who is going to do extremely well in this campaign and wipe the floor with mitt romney, it already set the bar so high for president obama he fell very flat. didn't come close to the bar. we have an issue paul ryan is thought to be this wonky nerd and when he comes out, if he can perform even half as well as mitt romney, they are overestimated or underestimating congressman ryan, i would say if they think he will come out and just throw out a bunch of numbers and stats and not put any hard or skin in the game so to speak. he has won a congressional district because he can relate to people. i think we are going to see some of that behavior if that debate tomorrow night. >> there were critics from the female side of the aisle that there

. >> both candidates campaigning heavily in your state, mitt romney was in virginia thursday at a coal mining rally. the president was at george mason university on friday. president obama won the commonwealth in 2008. to have a repeat performance there, what's it going to take? i know you mentioned a speaking specifically to pocketbook issues. beyond that, what's it going to take? >> well, i actually think this has been a deeply substantive election. i don't think it's been about the gaffes and the personalities. if you look in virginia, women are voting overwhelmingly for the president. and the democratic party. and that's not because of gaffes, that's because of a substantive difference of who they think cares about women. whether that's on women's health or women's economics. you've seen a real shift of concerns about medicare. that's because i think the president is protecting medicare and increasing benefits. whereas romney/ryan want to get rid of that. and in manufacturing you've seen for the first time really in years, a significant increase in manufacturing jobs. ronnellny wan
